So, what is this programme about?

Programme Name:
Korea-Malaysia Teachers Exchange Programme

Organisers:
Host: Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea
Implementing Institute: Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) under the auspices of UNESCO.

Background:
The Asia-Pacific Region is the epicenter of dynamic changes, where about 2/3 of global population movement takes place. Increasing emigration has brought about active human and cultural interchange, and the role of education in fostering global citizens in the multicultural society has become critical.
Against this backdrop, the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the Republic of Korea launched the Asia-Pacific Teacher Exchange for Global Education (APTE) in 2012. APTE is carefully designed to enhance the global competence of participating teachers and schools, and to strengthen the ties between Korea and partner countries. Despite the various challenges such as language barriers and cultural differences, participants unanimously agreed that the programme widened their world view, and naturally enhanced their capacity as global teachers. As the demand for the programme grows, the number of participating countries, teachers, and schools are growing yearly.

Objectives:
- To enhance teachers' global education capasities and cross-cultural communication skill through hand-on experience.
- To promote mutual understanding among people in the Asia-Pacific region.
- To set a model for reciprocal education development and cooperation.
